#Highly Sensitive People: Life observations from Steve Allen

Here are some life observations that we highly sensitive people can think about from Steve Allen, an American television personality, musician, composer, actor, comedian, and writer. They are as follows:

(1) Most people are unaware that they suffer from a natural combination of ignorance and stupidity.

Unfortunately there is some validity to this.

(2) If you don’t know something, admit it!

How many times have you tried to fake it? I know that I have. It’s not a sin to admit that you don’t know something.

(3) It’s important to be able to express your thoughts and emotions.

Holding my thoughts and emotions in have never helped me. Expressing yourself helps vent frustration and helps communicate what you want and need to others.

(4) Don’t just accept information as being true, question it.

I always question everything!

(5) Don’t rationalize. Rationalization is the enemy of truth.

Making excuses will never help you get to the truth.

(6) Spend time with people brighter than yourself.

Smart and uplifting people motivate me to better myself.

(7) If you are brighter than they are, do whatever you can to share your degree of enlightenment.

Regardless of intelligence, sharing your experience with others benefits both giver and receiver.

(8) Always question your use of time and make adjustments as needed.

I try to be mindful of the way I spend my time. I’m not perfect, but wasted time always needs to be examined.

(9) Never close your mind to new information.

Preconceived thoughts get in the way of productivity.

(10) No two things are ever the same. No one thing remains the same for very long.

Embracing change, rather than be threatened by it, helps me see different possibilities.

(11) You can control your emotions by being aware of them.

The more I know about myself and what makes me feel the way I do, the better control I have of my emotions.

(12) You always have time to improve yourself.

You can improve yourself at any age.

(13) Problem solving is an act of creativity.

We highly sensitive people have the creative capability to be brilliant! Do you use this capability to your benefit?

(14) Clear your brain and make room for creativity.

Clearing my brain of negative influences allows me to make room for positive ones.

(15) Sometimes logic gets in the way of creativity.

Thinking logically doesn’t always bring the best results. Logic coupled with intuition and facts are a more productive way to go.

(16) Dumb people bring up dumb kids.

There is some validity to this! LOL
