#Highly Sensitive People: Some Wise Advice from Dr. Bernie Siegel

Here’s some wise advice from Dr. Bernie Siegel from notes that I had taken from a lecture that I attended in November 2001. Dr Siegel is an American writer and retired pediatric surgeon who writes on the relationship between the patient and the healing process. He is known for his best-selling book Love, Medicine and Miracles.

* “We learn the most from our troubles.”

* “We should ask ourselves…How can we make the world beautiful?”

* “Pay attention to what makes you feel good. Live what you love.”

* “Don’t grow up. Don’t let your childlike qualities leave you.”

* “Don’t wait for tragedy to start re-evaluating your life.”

* “Don’t give advice to people unless you’ve lived it.”

* “Pay attention to your dreams.”

* “Start behaving the way you see fit.”

* “Criticism helps improve you.”

* “Help people and it’ll change your life.”

* “Decide to be happy.”

* “Ask for what you need.”

* “Get enough play in your life.”

* “Do what makes you lose track of time.”

* “We sometimes need pain to redirect the meaning of our lives.”

* “Don’t deny your feelings.”

* “Educate your children on how you deal with difficulties.”

* “The greatest gift you can give yourself is living your life to the fullest.”

* “Do you want to help people? Listen to them.”

* “Your life is a series of beginnings.”

The quote that really resonated with me was….“Don’t give advice to people unless you’ve lived it.” I’m doing this by writing about topics of interest to highly sensitive people from a personal perspective.

What quote/quotes did you most relate to? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.
