Do you enjoy the good times?

Do you enjoy the good times? This might sound like a silly question, but do you truly savor the best times of your life?

It’s too easy to take for granted the little things that makes us happy. Yesterday was one of those times. My wife and I saw our daughter Stephanie.

I had mentioned previously that she had received a generous offer by Purina to be a community social media manager. The bittersweet part of this was she had to move from New Jersey to St.Louis. We’re a little sad that she had to move, but this was a wonderful opportunity for her.

She came to New York to help Purina’s social media team work at Madison Square Garden for the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Stephanie was excited to be asked to be at one of the most prestigious dog shows in the world.

My wife and I hadn’t seen her for a few months and this was the perfect opportunity to see her. We’ve never seen her so happy. She told us that she loved her job, the people that she works with, and the area where she lives. She was very excited about being the lead person for social media for the Cat Pro Plan division when she got back from New York. She also mentioned that she’s going to a social media conference in Austin, Texas in March.

My wife and I basked in the glow of her happiness! What parent wouldn’t like to see their child so happy and fulfilled? This was our time to enjoy!

Do you enjoy the good times? I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.

  1. Lovely story, Cliff! Thanks for sharing. I’m really bad at enjoying the good times. I often get caught looking backwards or forwards. My wife and I joke about the fact that one of my catchphrases is ‘OK, let’s just get this done’ – I say it when we’re doing fun stuff, generally as a joke but there is always a modicum of seriousness to it. I’m aware of it, which means I’m in a much better place to do something about it. Being more present is definitely one of my aims for the future…no wait, for right now! 🙂
