What prevents you from doing your best? It’s important that we HSPs use our deep-thinking capabilities to answer this question. How can we improve if we don’t know what’s holding us back?
Here is a list of things that have held me back. See if you can relate to any of them. They are as follows:
* Fear of failure, change– This is an ongoing challenge for me. I’ve come to realize that everyone makes mistakes and that I’ve overcome the many mistakes that I’ve made in the past. Many lessons have been learned from the things that have not gone well. The changes that I’ve made have been in small increments so I don’t become overwhelmed. Life experience has helped me become more self-confident to handle anything that comes my way. I can always change direction as the situation dictates.
* Over-analyzing– I’m sure that many of you can relate to this. How many times have you taken a situation and analyzed it to death and do nothing? I’m learning that it’s fine to analyze something, get relevant information, and make a decision. Again, changes can be made as needed.
* Refusal to ask for help– How many times have you let your pride get in the way of asking for help? I’ve let this happen too many times! This kind of thinking and action is non-productive and causes more stress and problems that you need.
* Wrong environment– It’s crucial that we highly sensitive people be in our right environment. This may include being in a comfortable work environment, being around like-minded people, or having the flexibility to do your own thing. I knew from a young age that I couldn’t work for anyone. I was self-sufficient enough to work on my own and wanted to do things at my own pace. That’s why I’ve been self-employed for many years.
What prevents you from doing your best? It’s important to ponder this question. You’ll be in a better position to craft the kind of lifestyle that best fits your wants and needs. I’m interested in any thoughts or questions that you have.
