#Highly Sensitive People: Are you growing into your true self?

Are you growing into your true self? This sounds like an odd question doesn’t it? By growing into your true self I mean, acting like you want to be and taking actions needed to be or do what you want to accomplish.

This isn’t an easy task when you’re starting something new and unfamiliar. You have to be unafraid to make mistakes and looking foolish. Being open to criticism is also part of the process.

I feel that I started growing into my true self when I decided to be a writer. I wasn’t a good student and putting words on paper that would motivate people to be their best selves was a self concept that was unbelievable to me.

I decided that I would do whatever I needed to do to be a writer. This included writing something everyday, whether it be a few words, sentences, or pages. I increased my reading. This included books, newspapers, internet articles, magazines, and whatever sparked my interest. I went to writers conferences and attended night classes.

I’m still taking the steps needed to improve my writing by posting information on my newsletter, blog, Facebook, and Twitter pages. I’m also learning how to promote my writing, which is difficult for me. I’m doing this in conjunction with my regular activities including working full time in a business that’s totally unrelated to my writing activities. Teaser alert! What type of business am I in? If you haven’t read my book, you can find out!

What can you do to grow into your true self whatever that might be? It doesn’t matter how young or old you are. Experienced or not, the key is to start wherever you are and just do it.

I’m interested in any thoughts or comments that you have.

There’s a free Kindle Promotion for my book, Making Sense of Your High Sensitivity from June 24 thru June 28th. I’d appreciate your support and a review on Amazon.
