Highly sensitive people are naturally very creative. Why is it that many of us don’t take the time to utilize and enjoy this natural resource?
Perhaps irrational inhibitions stifle our creativity. Maybe we don’t have confidence with our numerous creative attributes. How will you know what you’re capable of unless you try?
Creativity requires patience and a willingness to work for a creative outcome. You can’t wait for inspiration to happen. You have to start writing, painting, or any other creative endeavour that you have. I’m a writer. My real writing comes from my re-writing. I put words to paper and redo some words that I’ve done. There are many factors that keep people from utilizing their best talents. Fear of the unknown, lack of confidence, and being judged come to mind.
Fear of the unknown is scary because you chart new territory and the uncertainty that this brings with it. You have to try something and make adjustments when needed. I just heard that there were three explosions at the Boston Marathon this afternoon. I was shocked about the event and was also concerned that my Aunt Vicky, who lives twenty minutes away, might have been injured. Thank goodness, she’s fine.

The day of April 12th is very significant for me. April 12th was the day of my late father Matthew’s birthday and April 12th, 2005 was the date that I discovered that I was a highly sensitive person.
There’s a lot of sadness for me on this day. It’s hard for me to believe that my father passed away twenty-six years ago. He and I were so much alike in temperament and personality. In my case, it proves that high sensitivity is an inherited character trait. Continue reading “A Special Day”
